PICHA is driven by visual content that showcases the contemporary side of Africa and people of the African diaspora. Each year we run a campaign focused around a particular theme to get our community of photographers all around the continent inspired and involved. This year, we’ve chosen to invite photographers to submit their images and interpretation of “SKIN” and what it means to be an African today.WHY ENTER?Entry is open to all photographers of the African diaspora, amateur to professional. The top 20 images submitted will be chosen by our panel of judges to be featured in exhibitions across Africa this December! Featured artists benefit from an international platform as well as commissions from every sale made of their work at the exhibitions.
Apart from the roles we play in our communities and the traditions we’ve inherited from the past, what does it mean to be black today? Who are we once we are stripped of the expectations, the prejudices and the assumptions?
The drive behind this project comes from one of our core brand values – empowering African photographers and proving that local creatives produce work worthy of global attention.HOW TO ENTERIf you would like your work to be entered, you can do so in three easy steps:1.
